Help Us Create Our Community Space With VBC!!
HARP is honored to once again be collaborating with City Repair during their VBC events for our third year.
City Repair is an organized group action that educates and inspires communities and individuals to creatively transform the places where they live. City Repair facilitates artistic and ecologically-oriented placemaking through projects that honor the interconnection of human communities and the natural world. The many projects of City Repair have been accomplished by a mostly volunteer staff and thousands of volunteer citizen activists.They are an amazing group of motivated community minded natural builders, architects, permaculture experts, educators and much more who collaborate every year to create the Village Building Convergence, a ten day city wide event helping communities like ours turn places into spaces. Please visit them online at www.cityrepair.org
We have an exciting line up of events and fun learning opportunities . We are excited to have all of you on board to help us beautify our grounds.
Triskelle Commons:::
HARP Introduces The Triskelle Commons!!
We are activating our backyard with your help by creating a neighborhood sanctuary for everyone to enjoy! The intent of this project is to collaboratively build a space where the community can walk through our learning garden, participate in art projects, play on the kids’ structure, or simply take peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of the city.
We will be providing coffee, breakfast snacks, and family-style vegan lunch from 12-1:30 for everyone who helps by volunteering during and after VBC. There will be lots to do, even after VBC 2013 is over.
We still need lots of hands on deck to prep the grounds, source materials, and help us reach out to our community. If you are interested in supporting our project and would like to volunteer, please contact our volunteer coordinator. Contact us A.S.A.P. – time is of the essence!
Please note that the events list marks the beginning of each project and that project will continue until it is complete! This means that you can hop in on a project at whatever time suits you. To find out how to get involved, contact our volunteer coordinator:

1-4pm: Meditation & Personal Sustainability: Sustainable Design as a Way of Life. All relationships – with one another, with our resources, and with our planet – begin with our relationship with the self. Whether we are seeking more balance, focus, and effectiveness as change agents and activists… or whether we simply have an emerging awareness that the principles for sustainabiltiy apply as much to the inner landscape as they do the outer landscape, this workshop is about embodying personal sustainability, or cultivating sustainability from the inside out. In other words, how we treat ourselves and how we treat our world are one and the same.
This workshop is taught by Deborah Eden Tull, founder of Mindful Living Revolution, author, meditation & mindfulness teacher, and sustainability consultant. Eden’s contribution merges over 20 years of experience in the field of sustainability and permaculture with 20 years immersed in Zen Buddhism, including 7 years as a Buddhist monk. This workshop will include meditation, awareness exercises, writing, and group discussion. Please bring a journal/pen. For more info visit www.deborahedentull.com
