Thieves oil is a blend of 5 basic essential oils. It was said to be worn in Europe by a band of thieves  during the time of the plague so they could rob the homes of the sick, without getting infected themselves.

This is a potent antimicrobial team that can be used to protect your family from illnesses such as colds flu, pneumonia, bronchitis and sore throats:

200 drops of Cinnamon

175 drops of Lemon

100 drops  of Cinnamon Bark

75 drops of Eucalyptus

50 drops of Rosemary

mix all ingredients well and bottle in opaque glass. If you have it in a dropper bottle make sure to keep it upright. The strong oils will eat up the rubber stopper if it is stored on it’s side! It is better kept with a screw top lid to store.

To prepare a 4 oz spray bottle for use as a hand sanitizer or room clearing/ disinfecting spray:

Add 1/2 ounce Jojoba Oil

1 ounce Witch Hazel

50 drops of Thieves mixture

fill the bottle with distilled water, shake before use to incorporate, do not store in direct sunlight

This makes a big batch! You can reduce it proportionally to your needs.

Rose Calendula Cream

Total Time: 30 minutes

Yield: makes 16 oz of cream

Ingredients

  • 10 g Beeswax
  • 1.5 C Rosewater
  • 1 tsp Glycerin
  • 3/4 C Almond Oil (including 1.5 Alkanet Infused Almond Oil, 2 tbsp Calendula Infused Oilve Oil)
  • 1.5 ml Rose Essential Oil

Instructions

  1. Pour rosewater and glycerin into blender. Put the blender lid on, take out the center lid piece (so you can pour into the hole) and set aside. Combine almond oil mixture and beeswax in a glass measuring cup/ metal bowl. Make a water bath by boiling water in a saucepan where the measuring cup/bowl can sit on top of (you are trying to melt the contents of the bowl using steam heat). Melt the beeswax into the oil completely. Remove from heat, let cool until a hardened rim forms on the surface. Pour the oil/wax VERY slowly into the rosewater/glycerin through the hole in the top of the blender on LOW speed. As the blender starts to bog down, raise the speed bit by bit. When you have added all the oil, add rose essential oil into the mixture and blend for 10 seconds. You should now have a thick, luscious cream. If water collects on the top of the cream, blot with a clean paper tissue or pour off. Pour cream into containers and let cool before lidding.

Notes

This is a luscious, rich cream that is great for dry summer skin and mature skin. Use it on face and body, enjoy the roses!
